Real-time email verification

A regex can tell you `[email protected]` is shaped like an email address. It cannot tell you the domain has no mail server, that the mailbox was deleted eighteen months ago, or that "info@" bounces to nobody. Sending anyway costs you a bounce, a sender-reputation hit with your ESP, and — on a cold outreach list — a wasted send you already paid for. A verdict that only checks the shape of the string is worse than no verdict at all, because it looks like due diligence. That's meaningfully different from a syntax or MX check, both of which can pass even for a domain whose mailbox was deleted years ago — the live probe is the only step that actually asks the question that matters: is anyone still receiving mail at this address today. It's the closest thing to actually asking the mailbox itself, without ever putting a real message in its inbox. It's the step that turns a probable answer into a confirmed one.

Catch-all domains, called out by name

A domain that accepts every address gets flagged as exactly that — a distinct verdict from 'valid', so you know when 'accepted' doesn't actually mean 'exists'. That distinction matters because a catch-all domain will happily return a success response for literally any address you throw at it, real or not — treating that the same as a genuinely confirmed mailbox would quietly poison a list with addresses that look verified but were never actually checked. The one exception is when a live mailbox probe genuinely can't be completed: in that case the result is reported honestly and the credit is refunded automatically.
