FAQ
The questions you'd actually ask us.
Answered plainly, with the specific tier or limit attached.
What does it cost, exactly?
Free is $0 USD forever — 5 monitors, 3-minute checks, one status page, 1 SEO site with 2 crawls a month, 100 email verification credits a month, 2 domain email-health audits a month. Starter is $7 USD/month — 30 monitors, 1-minute checks, checked from up to 2 regions, 5 status pages, 3 SEO sites with 10 crawls a month, 1,000 email verification credits a month plus API access, 10 domain email-health audits a month. Team is $30 USD/month — 150 monitors, 30-second checks, up to 3 regions, 5 seats, 100 status pages, a custom logo on your status page, 5 SEO sites with unlimited on-demand crawls plus daily scheduled crawls and score-drop alerts, 5,000 email verification credits a month with API access and signed webhooks, and unlimited domain email-health audits. The option to remove UptimeLuna's branding from your status page is included from Starter up.
Every tier gets every check type and every alert channel — email, Slack, webhooks and SMS — plus the same 0–100 SEO score and rule set. There's no per-seat charge on Free or Starter (they're single-seat by design) and no add-on pricing for any channel. Need more verification credits than your plan includes? Pay-as-you-go packs start at $6 for 1,000 and never expire.
How is this different from other uptime tools?
Multi-region confirmation: a monitor can be checked from more than one region at once (tier-capped), and it only shows as down once every selected region agrees — a partial failure names the specific region, not just "down." Pricing: three numbers on this page, no quote form. Scope: seven check types (HTTP(S), ping, TCP, keyword match, DNS incl. SPF/DKIM/DMARC, SSL expiry, and heartbeat), plus built-in SEO site audits and a domain email-health audit (MX/SPF/DKIM/DMARC) — not a general observability platform. Status pages: public status pages with real uptime history, incident updates, and email/RSS subscribers — all included, no separate product to buy.
What we deliberately don’t do: APM, log aggregation, distributed tracing, RUM. Those are real products and we’re not one of them. We tell you the instant something is down — or slipping in Google.
How fast will I actually know?
As fast as your check interval — from every 3 minutes on Free down to every 30 seconds on Team. When a monitor is configured to check from multiple regions, it confirms the failure across every selected region before alerting, so one bad route in one place doesn't page you for nothing.
Alerts go out by email, Slack, webhook, or SMS, depending on what you've configured as contacts on the monitor.
How long does setup take? Do I need a developer?
Sign up, paste a URL, pick a check type and interval, add a contact to alert. That's a monitor — no code, no agent to install, nothing to deploy on your servers. It's entirely self-serve; there's no sales call in the way.
Setting up a status page or inviting teammates (Team tier) is a form in the dashboard, same as any other setting.
What exactly can you monitor?
HTTP(S) with any request method — GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE, HEAD, OPTIONS — plus custom headers and a request body, so you can monitor a real REST API endpoint, not just a homepage, with status-code and keyword/body-match assertions on the response. Also ICMP ping, any TCP port, DNS records (including SPF, DKIM and DMARC), SSL certificate expiry, and heartbeat monitoring. Any HTTP(S) check can also add SSL certificate expiry monitoring, which emails you once the certificate's remaining validity drops below a threshold you set. Heartbeat monitoring watches for inbound pings from cron jobs or background tasks — useful for making sure scheduled work is actually running.
Will it alert me for nothing?
That's the failure mode multi-region confirmation is designed against: a monitor set to check from more than one region only alerts once every selected region agrees it's actually down, so a routing blip in one place doesn't page you. A single-region monitor (Free tier) doesn't get that cross-check — it's a real trade-off of the free plan, and it's why Starter and Team support more regions per monitor.
Is my data really stored in Canada?
Yes. Your account and monitoring data are stored 100% on Canadian servers — nothing leaves the country. Checks themselves execute from runner regions around the world, because that is the point of multi-region confirmation, but the results come home. Data residency is the default here, not an enterprise add-on.
Am I locked in?
No contract, no annual commitment. Manage or cancel your subscription any time from billing settings in the dashboard — you keep access through the period you already paid for, and your org drops back to the Free tier’s limits after that.
What does SEO monitoring actually check?
Register a site, verify ownership with a DNS TXT record, a .well-known file, or a meta tag, and UptimeLuna crawls it — up to 100 pages per crawl on Free and Starter, 500 on Team. Every on-page and site-level rule runs on every tier, producing a 0–100 score and a list of issues at four severities — Critical, Serious, Warning and Info. Free and Starter see full detail on Critical and Serious, with Warning/Info rolled up into counts; Team sees every issue at every severity.
Free can register 1 site with 2 crawls a month, Starter 3 sites with 10 crawls a month, and Team 5 sites with unlimited on-demand crawls plus a daily scheduled crawl that alerts your existing contacts on a score drop or a new critical issue, and a scheduled SEO report through Automations. Free and Starter keep only the latest crawl's detail and score on hand; Team keeps 10 crawls of full detail history and 6 months of score history. A site's staging environment can be crawled too — Basic-auth or cookie credentials, encrypted at rest — so issues surface before launch, not after.
What does email verification actually check?
Every address runs an eight-step pipeline: normalization, syntax, typo suggestion, disposable-domain detection, role-account detection, free-provider detection, MX/DNS resolution, and — where a capable server is available — a live SMTP conversation that asks the destination mailbox directly whether it exists, including a check for catch-all domains that accept everything. It's a real deliverability verdict, not a regex guess.
Every plan includes a monthly credit allowance — 100 on Free, 1,000 on Starter, 5,000 on Team — and pay-as-you-go packs start at $6 for 1,000 credits and never expire. Checking your own alert contacts or status-page subscribers is free of credits entirely, on every tier.
Can I verify a whole list at once, or only one address at a time?
Both. Single-address verification runs instantly from the dashboard or the API for real-time checks like a signup form. Bulk verification uploads a CSV — up to 100 addresses on Free, 10,000 on Starter, 100,000 on Team — tracks progress live, retries greylisted addresses automatically, and can be cancelled at any point with an immediate refund of whatever was still pending. Results come back as a paginated table and a downloadable CSV with verdict columns appended to your original file.
Starter and Team also get a key-authenticated REST API for verifying from your own code, and Team adds an HMAC-signed webhook that fires when a bulk job finishes.
What does the domain email-health audit check?
Enter any domain and it checks MX resolution, SPF (including multiple-record conflicts), DMARC policy strength, and DKIM against a selector you provide or a curated list of common ones — the records that most often break email deliverability. Findings are weighted by severity into a single 0–100 score, with no monitor to set up first.
It's a separate monthly allowance from email verification credits — 2 audits on Free, 10 on Starter, unlimited on Team.
